Learn more about me and the heart behind the brand <3
Hi! I'm Lina 👋🏻
Thank you so much for visiting neko maneki ☺️. I hope you’re enjoying these little chunky kitties and maybe even found the one that feels just right for you!
A little bit about me: I’m a senior at the University of Michigan, studying graphic and UI design 👩💻💭. I first launched neko maneki last year as a small campus project, and thanks to everyone’s kind support, it’s now growing into something even bigger!
How it started
As you might guess from my major, I design a lot! But outside of school, I’m also a huge (slightly crazy) cat person. My friends always gift me cat-themed things, which warms my heart every single time 😌. That’s when I thought: why not design something that could bring that same feeling to others? So, I picked up my iPad, started drawing, and began selling my designs on campus. Before long, student organizations noticed my work, and I was invited to sell at events. My little campus project quickly grew into a successful student business… and now, neko maneki has its very own website!
why "neko maneki" ?
The name is inspired by the maneki neko (招き猫), the Japanese “lucky cat” figurine that’s believed to bring good fortune and welcome happiness💰🌸! In the same way, I hope my designs bring a little luck, comfort, and joy into your day. Sometimes it’s the smallest things that can make life feel a little brighter :)
The Purpose
The goal of neko maneki isn’t just to create small moments of happiness—I also care deeply about making products that are worth your trust and support. As someone who’s very thoughtful about where I spend my own money, I make sure every detail is right, accurate colors and high-quality materials.
